MANY UNAWARE THAT THEIR OLD TV SETS WILL GO DARK Many owners of older TV sets who still receive free, over-the-air broadcasts are unaware that their sets will no longer function after Feb. 17, 2009 without a settop converter, lawmakers observed at a Washington D.C. hearing on Thursday. Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, observed that the government was depending on broadcasters and television-set manufacturers to educate the public about the switchover from analog to digital broadcasting on that date but that their efforts have been insubstantial....

Rocky legend Sylvester Stallone has teased the “different direction” being taken up upcoming spinoff sequel, Creed 3. Stallone was in attendance at the UK launch of streaming service Paramount Plus, with Metro asking the actor about what audiences can expect when Creed returns to the big screen without Rocky Balboa is his corner. While Stallone will not feature in the movie itself, meaning of course that Rocky will be entirely absent from Creed 3, the Hollywood icon is still on board as a producer....

The official trailer for CBS All Access’ upcoming original thriller, Tell Me a Story, was revealed today during the series’ New York Comic-Con panel at Javits Center. Tell Me a Story’s New York Comic-Con panel was moderated by TV Guide Magazine’s Damian Holbrook and featured a conversation with executive producer Kevin Williamson and cast members James Wolk (“Jordan”), Billy Magnussen (“Nick”), Dania Ramirez (“Hannah”), Danielle Campbell (“Kayla”) and Paul Wesley (“Eddie”)....

Even though The Batman had Riddler as the main villain, the infamous Joker appeared at the end of the movie, with Eternals’ Barry Keoghan playing the Clown Prince of Crime. Now that Matt Reeves has confirmed that the awaited sequel is in active development, with the director already working on the script, the fans are hoping to see Keoghan return as Batman’s nemesis to finally have Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne facing the most popular and ruthless villain in the franchise....

Apple has released a brand new, full-length trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant. This is one of the original programming offerings coming down the pipeline on the newly-launched streaming service Apple TV+. The show comes from The Sixth Sense director, who is bringing his brand of horror to the world of streaming for this one. The filmmaker has been on something of a hot streak recently and this looks like it could very well continue that solid run, as the mysterious show looks like vintage Shyamalan....

It was a good week for a Disney classic, although the DVD charts were split three ways. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sleeping Beauty 50th Anniversary Edition topped the national DVD sales charts for the week ending October 12. The Platinum Edition disc just barely beat out last week’s top seller, Iron Man. Other new releases in the top 10 for DVD sales were The Simpsons: Season 11 at the seventh spot and...

FX has picked up Mayans MC to series, ordering a 10-episode first season of the new drama series from Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. The first season of this Sons of Anarchy spin-off will premiere on FX in 2018. Here’s what Nick Grad had to say about the new series in a statement....

Sony Pictures Entertainment has issued a statement regarding reports of Spider-Man 3 piracy: Spider-Man 3 arrives in theatres on May 4. Contrary to news reports about stolen copies of Spider-Man 3 are being sold illegally on the streets in China, our investigation in China has revealed no case of the film being pirated to date. Similar hoaxes and false alarms have occurred prior to the release of other major films. We have uncovered examples of Spider-Man 2 being sold in Spider-Man 3 boxes in China....

It would seem that at least one live-action Spidey actor won’t be there for the rumored uniting of the various Spider-Men in Spider-Man: No Way Home. As seen in the trailer and poster for the anticipated sequel, the new movie brings in major villains from the previous live-action Spider-Man movie franchises, such as Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx’s Electro. While Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are not officially confirmed, it feels like it’s a given that both will appear in the movie in some way....
