Talking guns, horses, westerns, and a couple of Batman questions thrown in… Russell Crowe and Christian Bale were in Los Angeles recently to promote their new Western, 3:10 to Yuma, a remake of the 1957 original which starred Glenn Ford. The movie is based in Arizona in the late 1800’s, where infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the ‘3:10 to Yuma’, a train that will take the killer to trial....

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 5 was all set to feature a Riverdale crossover titled Witch Wars. Fans of the hit Netflix series were devastated to learn that the streaming platform had cancelled it. As of this writing, the series will end with season 4, which debuts later this year. Further Sabrina stories will continue to be told in comic book form, unless someone like HBO Max decides to pick up the series and give it a second chance....

We reported on Friday that Sam Raimi had been given an offer to direct a new Disney tale and it seems that he accepted the job last night. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Raimi will direct Oz: The Great and Powerful. The site is also reporting that the film will be in 3D. We also reported back in April that Robert Downey Jr. was circling the project to star as the Wizard, and one of the site’s sources revealed that he hasn’t officially signed on yet, but they are developing the film for him to star in....

After Sunday night’s episode of The Walking Dead, AMC released a new preview, clip and photos for next week’s episode, Something They Need, which is the second to last episode of The Walking Dead Season 7. While these previews and photos don’t often reveal too much, both images for Sunday night’s episode seem to reveal exactly what happened to Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green), after the episode’s surprising ending. A new photo has been shared from the set of Saw 10, aka Saw X as it’s also being referred to, and it includes the return of a major character. It was previously revealed that Tobin Bell would appear in the tenth film to reprise his role as John Kramer, the mastermind behind the “Jigsaw” experiments. How he’ll be worked into the story remains to be seen, considering the character has long been dead in the Saw universe, but you can catch a sneak peek at his return by checking out the set photo floating around on social media....

With Netflix cancelling so many shows after just one season, there is always a risk attached to getting into something new on the streaming platform. Award-winning Up in the Air co-screenwriter Sheldon Turner will make his directorial debut with the thriller By Virtue Fall. According to Variety, Turner wrote the project, which revolves around a man who is framed by his mentor and winds up in prison. Once released, he’s fixated on getting revenge on his former partner, who has flourished in his new life and tried to cleanse himself of the past. Filmmakers are looking to lens By Virtue Fall for less than $20 million....

Saturday Night Live is reportedly making plans to kick of season 46 live from the studio. It is believed that Lorne Michaels is looking into getting the long-running sketch comedy show back to the in-studio format, minus an audience. As of this writing, NBC and Michaels have not yet commented on the situation. Season 45 of SNL was forced to shut down production in the middle of March, which saw the cast and crew experimenting with shooting episodes virtually from cast member homes....

Hulu has released the first trailer for Solar Opposites season 2. In addition, the streaming service has announced when fans will be able to see it. The first season of the hit animated series arrived in May of 2020, which was the perfect time. People were just getting used to spending the majority of their time indoors and looking for programs to keep their minds off of reality. Solar Opposites proved to be the right type of humor for the right time....

Space Force is going to be a two-season series. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has pulled the plug on the show with no plans to produce any new episodes. Season 2, which started streaming on the platform in February, now serves as the final season. The hefty price tag is pointed to as a big reason for the show getting axed. From the start, Space Force was a costly series to make, even setting a new record with co-creator and star Steve Carell earning more than $1 million per episode....

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY The Plot Paramount+ Star Trek: Strange New Worlds takes place in the era before James T. Kirk became captain, following his mentor and predecessor, Christopher Pike. On the timeline, the series will happen after the events of Star Trek: Discovery and the original (failed) Star Trek pilot episode “The Cage” but will come before the successful Original Series pilot, “Where No Man has Gone Before.” As far as a stardate goes, Strange New Worlds should occur somewhere between 2259 and 2266....

WHO DIES IN THE CITY? The revelation by Sex and the City’s costar Cynthia Nixon that one of the principal characters will die in the theatrical version, due out on May 30, has touched off a wildfire of speculation on Internet blogs about who the character will be. Rumors that a character would be killed off had been circulating for months. When asked about them at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas last month, another costar, Sarah Jessica Parker, predicted that people will be “very surprised” by what they see on screen....

PENGUINS BIGGER THAN JESUS? The question being pondered by many box-office analysts is: will the penguins, as the Beatles once claimed about themselves, become more popular than Jesus. The answer to that question will come when ticket receipts are counted for the animated penguin movie, Happy Feet, and the debuting religious-themed movie, The Nativity Story. Most analysts are betting on the penguins, forecasting that Happy Feetwill take in $17 million-20 million....
