As de-aging and, in some cases, completely resurrecting deceased actors becomes more commonplace in movies, there is entirely no excuse why the lower half of Peter Weller’s 1980s face can’t be pasted onto another actor physically performing RoboCop’s body in the new movie....

Back in December, Adult Swim announced that Samurai Jack, the network’s beloved animated series, is coming back for Season 5. Showtime has announced its panel line-up for the 2011 Comic-Con which will feature stars from some of the network’s biggest original series. Sony has renewed their rights to the Spider-Man series of films, according to Marvel Vice Chairman Peter Cuneo. Cuneo, speaking to IESB.net, suggested that this means that the new film could be released in either 2010 or 2011. Cuneo said “As far as Spider-Man 4, it’s really up to Sony and it up to them, most likely scenario is 2010 or 2011 but we can’t speak for them and I think that we don’t know....

Since the arrival of Squid Game on Netflix, the streamer has made no secret that they want more of the same from creator Hwang Dong-hyuk. As the surprise hit of 2021, Squid Game became a phenomenon that defies any explanation as to why it became the success it did. While Hwang was on board for more Squid Game, he has emphasized that he won’t rush out a second season. SURVIVOR, HOUSEWIVES WIN, BUT LOSE VIEWERS The season finales of CBS’s Survivor: Tocantinsand ABC’s Desperate Housewivesscored strongly with two-hour episodes Sunday night, but their audiences were down significantly from previous seasons. Survivoraveraged 12.74 million viewers, peaking in the 9:00 p.m. half hour with 13.65 million. It was the lowest-rated Survivorseason finale in history, slightly lower than last year’s which drew 12.91 million. South by Southwest Conference and Festivals (SXSW) is gearing back up to screen movies in person again for the first time since 2019 after becoming one of the first victims of the pandemic of 2020. With the last two years canceled, SXSW moved its experience online for filmgoers and press to enjoy many of the newest movies safely at home. The party is finally coming back to Austin, Texas in March as the plans as to move forward with the in-person film festival and conferences this year, and they don’t foresee any changes with those plans at this time....

While this summer blockbuster didn’t terminate the record books, it did post a solid showing in its first day of release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Terminator Salvation brought in $13.3 million during its opening day on Thursday. The total was said to include the estimated $3 million from Wednesday night midnight screenings. The Christian Bale/Sam Worthington film is said to be tracking at $70 million for the full five-day holiday frame, although it does have some competition this weekend as well....

Matt Reeves’ The Batman was one of the standout films of 2022. His new look on Gotham City and Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of the world’s greatest detective was a big hit with both fans and critics. This resulted in the film receiving nominations for the 2023 Oscars. It has been nominated for three categories: Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, and Best Visual Effects. Considering superhero films often get overlooked for awards, like Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight being snubbed for Best Picture, it is still a small positive that Reeves’ adaption received some attention from the Academy....

Movies shot in the wilderness are something truly special. Whether it’s coincidental or not, films with the plot based in the woods are many times based on true events. Or, if they’re not necessarily “true”, they revolve around fantasy and tales to lead the way, guiding the viewers on adventures that they wish they could be a part of. A lot of flicks with this basis, with shaky cameras and only a handful of characters, strive off of being realistic to grab the audience’s attention....

It was previously announced that more of that universe will be explored in The Boys: Varsity. Showrunner Eric Kripke spoke out about the show in a new interview with Deadline and confirmed that the spinoff will indeed be crossing over with the main series in some ways, though he couldn’t name any specific characters who might appear. Kripke also states that the spinoff takes place during the third season of The Boys heading into season 4, meaning characters like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) could very well show up....

The 1883 star criticized the acclaimed film for its homoerotic undertones while suggesting Campion couldn’t make a convincing Western based on her choice to shoot the movie in New Zealand....
