Comic book legend Stan Lee and his production shingle POW! Entertainment, along with Brighton Partners, have partnered with Rainmaker Entertainment to launch “Legion of 5,” a new superhero property. “Legion of 5” owned jointly by Rainmaker, POW! and Brighton – is planned as a series of CG-animated films but with a cross-platform approach to include games, online and mobile releases. Merchandizing is part of the plan as well. Details of the characters and story line are being kept under wraps, says The Hollywood Reporter....

A new adaptation of Stephen King’s Firestarter is playing simultaneously in theaters and on Peacock. For those who are unaware, the story revolves around a father who tries to protect his daughter, who can set things on fire with her mind, from government authorities. Like many King stories, the book that inspired the movie features a child with powers. CBS has acquired the rights to Stephen King’s short story The Things They Left Behind, handing out a put pilot order for the project. A put pilot order almost guarantees that the show will be picked up, since the network will have to pay a penalty if they do not air the first episode. The project was acquired in a competitive bidding situation, although it isn’t clear what other networks were vying for the rights....

Stranger Things Season 2 is almost here and ahead of the debut on Netflix, series creators, the Duffer Brothers have shared a few pages of the script that introduce a new location and character. Our favorite talking teddy bear is officially coming to the small screen. The live-action adaption of the Seth MacFarlane-created Ted movies will have its small screen debut in a straight-to-series on Peacock. It was first announced in June 2021 that the series was green-lit with MacFarlane and Ericka Huggins to write and executive produce the series under MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions. Terry Gilliam’s The Man Who Killed Don Quixote has experienced a financial collapse, which is more than the “hiccup” reported in August, according to Variety. “The financing collapsed about a month and a half ago,” Terry Gilliam said Saturday at the Deauville American Film Festival. “I shouldn’t be here. Following claims made by Nicole Eggert, former Charles in Charge star Alex Polinsky came forward with his own stories of abuse at the hands of Scott Baio earlier today. However, Baio’s representatives held a press conference denying all of the allegations from Polinsky and Nicole Eggert. Baio was not present for the press conference where his reps called the whole thing a “witch hunt.” Alex Polinsky shared stories of sexual harassment along with verbal and physical abuse from Scott Baio while the two were on the set of Charles in Charge in the late 1980s....
