Enchanted hit the theaters on November 21, and charmed its way to the top of the box office this weekend. The film’s soundtrack was released on November 20 and we’re giving away this CD for our readers. The recording features songs by Academy Award Winners Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz with original score by Menken. Amy Adams and James Marsden (Princess Giselle and Prince Edward in the film) perform four tracks on the CD, and recording artists Carrie Underwood and Jon McLaughlin each contribute a song as well....

Over the weekend, LucasFilm debuted the new Star Wars Rebels Season 4 trailer, while revealing that this final season of the hit animated series will kick off Monday, October 16, with multiple airings at 12:30 AM, 3:00 AM, 7:30 AM, 5:30 PM and 9:00 PM. With the final season for the show set, some have wondered if these final episodes will include any characters from Rogue One, since they’re essentially set in roughly the same area of the Star Wars timeline, and Krennic’s name was dropped in the trailer....

CANNES FILM FESTIVAL NAMES COMPETING FILMS Quentin Tarantino will have the distinction of being the only American-born filmmaker to be competing in the 62nd annual Cannes Film Festival this year. Tarantino, who won the festival’s prestigious Palme d’Or in 1994, will be debuting his Inglourious Basterds, frequently described as a World War II revenge caper. (Although the film is set in France, it was filmed mostly in Germany to take advantage of that country’s tax incentives....

PIRATES UNSTOPPABLE OVERSEAS Business may have slowed for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End domestically, but it’s riding high overseas where it has topped $500 million in just 20 days, a record, the Walt Disney Co. said Wednesday. Daily Varietyreported today (Thursday) that the achievement beats Spider-Man 3by an entire week and that the figure represents two of every three dollars of the movie’s worldwide gross. As of Tuesday, the domestic total for Pirates stood at $257....

FRESTON BACK IN VIACOM FOLD – INDIRECTLY In what appeared to many to be an assertion of independence and to others an act of impudence, DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg on Monday announced the appointment of Tom Freston to the company’s board of directors. The studio’s films are distributed by Paramount Pictures, whose corporate parent, Viacom, fired Freston as CEO one year ago. Freston is widely regarded as the force behind the success of MTV....

BOX OFFICE FORECAST: OVERCAST The Kingdomwould appear to hold the keys to the top position at the box office this weekend, judging from analysts’ projections, but it’s unlikely to earn more than $18-22 million, and the overall box office is expected to remain in its annual September slump. Targeting the “tween” audience, Disney’s The Game Plan, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is likely to earn $14-18 million and place second. But MGM is unlikely to pull out of its recent tailspin, with Feast of Love, starring Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear, expected to do just $3-5 million....

i>IDOL OFF ITS PEAK AND SIMON’S PIQUE American Idolroared back onto the air Tuesday night with an 18.6 rating and a 27 share – putting it well above every other regular series airing this season. YOUTUBE’S NEW TUBE In an apparent effort to morph itself into the TV of the Internet, YouTube on Monday expanded the width of its pictures, giving it the 16:9 aspect ratio of wide-screen television and most movies. For videos uploaded in the 4:3 aspect ratio, the video website will display vertical bars on each side of the picture. In an announcement, YouTube said, “We’re expanding the width of the page to 960 pixels to better reflect the quality of the videos you create and the screens that you use to watch them....

TBS has ordered a second season of the popular new sitcom Sullivan & Son. Currently airing Thursdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), the comedy is averaging more than 2.5 million viewers in its first season and ranks as one of the Top 25 new summer series on television. TBS has ordered 10 episodes for the second season, which is slated to launch in 2013. TBS’s Sullivan & Son stars Steve Byrne as a corporate attorney who finds new life behind the bar when he leaves his Manhattan lifestyle and moves to Pittsburgh to take over his parents’ pub....
