Within the animation genre, one trend that has been growing over the years is casting famous artists, mostly actors, to voice characters. This trend first exploded in 1992, when Disney hired Robin Williams to play the Genie in Aladdin, a character that would become one of the audience’s all-time favorites. From then on, animated films featured stars of all sorts to voice a wide variety of characters, serving not only for marketing purposes, but also to draw audiences of all ages to the movies....

Smallville is in the midst of its 10th and final season, and it seems that one of the returning characters will be bringing on a new bride. Ausiello Files reports that when Alan Ritchson returns as Aquaman, he will be married to the DC Comics queen of the sea, Mera, who will be played by Elena Satine. The newlywed couple will appear on the show’s ninth episode. We previously reported last month that Alan Ritchson would return, although there were no new story details about Aquaman or his wife....

On May 24th, the Second Season of TNT’s hit action drama Southland will arrive in a two-disc DVD and Blu-ray set, which is available only at The WB Shop. HALLOWEEN SCARES UP RECORD There was more treat than trick about the decision to screen Rob Zombie’s remake (the studio called it a “re-imagining”) of Halloweenover the Labor Day holiday. We reported back in February that writer-director Stephen Norrington was still very much attached to an upcoming remake and now it seems the film is moving forward even more. MTV Splash Page spoke with The Crow remake producer Edward Pressman and he said that Norrington has finished the script for the film and they are moving forward with casting. Pressman also noted that the setting of the film will be different than the original 1994 film The Crow, with this reboot set to take place in the southwest corner of America....

That’s a wrap on the Spy Kids reboot. Previously, it had been reported that Robert Rodriguez had been tapped to direct a new Spy Kids movie for Netflix after helming all four prior films. This time, he enlisted his son Racer Max Rodriguez to co-write the screenplay and produce alongside him. On Twitter, Rodriguez announced that filming has been completed by recreating a photo that had been taken on the set of 2002’s Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams....

MichaelBay.com has officially confirmed that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is going to be the new female lead in Transformers 3. Bay and Huntington-Whiteley have previously worked together in the Victoria’s Secret “A Thousand Fantasies” ad. In a related story The Los Angeles Times talks about the production of Transformers 3. It has been shooting on a sound stage at the former Spruce Goose Howard Hughes hangar at Playa Vista. Exterior shots for the film will be shot throughout the Los Angeles area over the next several weeks....
