Roseanne Barr announced during the Television Critics’ Association winter press tour that her character and John Goodman’s Dan Connor will be Trump supporters on the new Roseanne revival series. Barr has been a Trump supporter in her personal life and thinks that the Trump narrative works best for the Connor family, since they are a working-class family in 2018. Some of Barr’s views have been controversial over the years, but she feels that Trump’s presidency is also good for comedy, which is the main point of the Roseanne revival series....

The Alec Baldwin western movie Rust was pretty far along in production before shutting down in October 2021 due to the infamous incident on the set that took the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. A firearm declared by crew members to be a “cold gun” wound up discharging a live round while Baldwin was preparing to shoot his next scene, fatally wounding Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Currently, cops are still investigating the case, and the biggest question that remains is how exactly live rounds had gotten onto the set in the first place....

After getting to watch that Star Wars standalone tank at the box office, the pair, who had previously directed The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street to much success, produced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse only to see it win Best Animated Film at his year’s Oscars. Now, Sony TV has tasked the dubious duo to develop a TV universe based on their stable of Marvel owned characters which is headlined by Spider-Man himself and includes Venom, Morbius the Living Vampire and a whole host of other favorites who are not directly associated with Disney and Marvel Studios’ MCU....

Anna Hutchison, Jenna Lind and Gwendoline Taylor have been added to the cast of the hit Starz Original series, Spartacus now filming season three in New Zealand. Anna Hutchison will play Laeta, the privileged wife of a Roman dignitary who becomes entangled in the struggle against Spartacus. Her life and those of the ones she loves are forever changed by the conflict. Jenna Lind will play Kore, a loyal slave to Marcus Crassus (played by Simon Merrells), the Roman tasked to bring an end to Spartacus and his rebellion....

The most celebrated Starz Originals franchise, Spartacus, will continue to wow audiences worldwide with a renewal secured for a thrilling and bloody third season. IMAX Corporation and Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Speed Racer, the action-packed adventure from the creators of The Matrix trilogy, will be simultaneously released to IMAX and conventional theatres on May 9, 2008. Speed Racer, based on the hit anime series created by Tatsuo Yoshida, is written and directed by The Wachowski Brothers. The film will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology....

Stellan Skarsgård has joined Marvel Studios’ Thor, reported the Swedish news site Ystads Allehanda. Set for release May 20, 2011, the Paramount Pictures comic book adaptation will be directed by Kenneth Branagh. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Colm Feore and Samuel L. Jackson. Stellan Skarsgård is ready for a role in action movie Thor. Steven Yeun’s new project has been set into motion. From Eternals writers Kaz and Ryan Firpo, Peacock is developing a 1960s crime saga set in Hawaii. The series will be directed by Fast & Furious director Justin Lin and The Walking Dead and Minari star Steven Yeun. Not a lot has been revealed about the new show, but The Islands, inspired by actual events, is a story about American Imperialism, the fall of a kingdom, and changing a way of life....

BATMAN IS ROBIN’ THE BOX OFFICE Although some industry analysts had contended that Warner Bros. had inflated its estimate of what The Dark Knighttook in on Sunday so that it could claim a record weekend, the final box office result showed that the studio’s estimate was actually conservative. The film grossed $158.3 million, some $3 million more than the studio’s forecast, according to the final figures from box-office trackers Media by Numbers....

WHICH TO WATCH – WITCH OR WATCHMEN? Several box-office prognosticators are predicting that last week’s No. 1 film, Watchmen, will take a huge tumble this weekend and be replaced at the top of the list by Disney’s family (PG-rated) flick Race to Witch Mountain,starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.Indeed, two other debuting films may also race ahead of it, too, Universal/Rogue Pictures’s horror film The Last House on the Leftand Fox Atomic’s Miss March both of them R-rated, and both of them reworks of films originally released in the ’70s....

WAS THE RACE(R) FIXED? Warner Bros. on Monday was being accused of cooking the books Monday after it turned out that their box-office estimate for the opening weekend of Speed Racerwas way off the mark. The studio had predicted that the film would wind up with $20.2 million in ticket sales, putting it in second place. “It’s far from the first time a studio with an underperforming pic has overestimated its Sunday gross and avoided an embarrassing third-place finish in Monday morning box office stories,” Daily Varietycommented today (Tuesday)....
