Mark Verheiden, one of the head writers for Sci-Fi Channel’s Battlestar Galactica recently said that work has not completely stalled on his adaptation of DC Comic’s Teen Titans for the screen. Verheiden spoke to ComicMix about the status of the project. “I’m back full into writing the Teen Titans movie,” Verheiden said. “I turned in a pass to Warner Bros. right before the strike and we’ve talked about that and I’m going to get back into it....

Columbia Pictures announced today that the title of the next Spider-Man film will be The Amazing Spider-Man. The studio simultaneously released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, the first shot of Garfield in the famous full mask and suit. The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012. The trailer and poster for The Boogeyman, based on the short story of the same name by Stephen King, have been released. After losing several cast members, The Boys’ college spinoff series is back on track. Deadline reports that a handful of new cast members has just boarded the series, and this includes Patrick Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger who recently showed off his dramatic range in the HBO Max series The Staircase. Three of today’s leading animators have teamed up to form the production company, Frederator Films. According to Variety, their first project will be a feature version of the Cartoon Network series Samurai Jack. This trio of animators include Fred Seibert, Kevin Kolde, and Eric Gardner. They plan on producing mostly 2-D animated features. All three will act as producers on the various projects that they have lined up. Original series creator Genndy Tartakovsky is set to write and direct the Samurai Jack film....

This time, the teacher will be a retired superhero, and his pupils will be five-year-old children with their own superpowers. Sherry Lansing, the former chairman of Paramount Pictures Motion Picture Group, has been voted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award by the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Academy President Sid Ganis announced. The award, an Oscar statuette, will be presented to Lansing during the 79th Academy Awards presentation on February 25, 2007. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Classics has picked up the U.S. and Latin American rights to David Michod’s debut feature Animal Kingdom. The film had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival last month. Michod wrote and directed this tale of a 17-year-old boy who gets thrust into the Melbourne underworld when his mother dies. The crime drama stars Guy Pearce, Ben Mendelsohn, Joel Edgerton and Luke Ford....

In an interview with The Big Issue, actor Colm Meaney, who played Chief Miles O’Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, said he would be open to reprising the role for a potential series based around Michael Dorn’s Worf.
