Roland Emmerich, the director of both Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow, is planning a remake of the sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage. Empire Online sat down with the director recently where he talked about his long history with the project and some major changes he’s planning to the film before he gets behind the camera. “I was attached to this project 15 years ago with [former producing partner] Dean Devlin and then we gave it back because we wanted to do some other original projects we had developed,” Emmerich remembers of his long association with the much mooted remake of the 1968 movie, in which a titchy crew in a tiny submarine is injected into a human body to do battle with corpuscles....

Rose Marie Mazzetta, known as Rose Marie, star of the The Dick Van Dyke Show, has died. The beloved entertainer was 94-years-old. She died in Van Nuys, California, on Thursday. The news was confirmed via a message on her official Twitter account. Rose Marie, known for her signature black bow that she wore in her hair, had a very long and prosperous career that spanned nine decades, with her last credited role coming in 2013 on The Garfield Show....

The score for the animated sequel Scoob! Holiday Haunt is currently getting recorded, but the problem is nobody may ever get to hear the music. Days ago, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery had axed both Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt even with each film practically completed. There are no plans for the studio to ever release either film in theaters or on streaming. But producer Tony Cervone isn’t about to let spent money go to waste....

Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is back in a lead role for a small screen drama, as seen in the new trailer for Showtime’s limited series Your HonorYour Honor}. Well acclaimed for his Emmy-winning role as Walter White, Cranston will next be playing a judge whose life completely changes after his son makes a deadly mistake. The limited event series will consist of ten episodes and is scheduled to premiere in December 2020....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showtime unveiled four new series at the Television Critics Assn.’s winter press tour Thursday – but Arrested Development wasn’t one of them. Showtime president of entertainment Robert Greenblatt confirmed recent reports that Showtime was in negotiations with 20th Century Fox Television to pick up the Fox comedy but warned that no deal has been reached. “I always thought it was a better fit for a cable network than a broadcast network,” Greenblatt said of Arrested....

It’s time for another Smallville guest star from previous Superman mythology - this time in the form of Helen Slater, the original Supergirl. Helen Slater appears in this episode playing Lara, Clark’s Kryptonian mother. The episode starts off with a bang - literally, as we watch Krypton being torn apart by a war. Zor-El is sending Kara to Earth, a trip that will take three years. Kara is resistant, she doesn’t want to leave everything she loves, but Zor-El gives her little choice....

Gearing up for his impending exit from the hit NBC sitcom The Office, comedic actor Steve Carell is wasting no time in finding other projects. According to Variety, Steve Carell has signed onto star in and produce the upcoming romantic comedy A Boyfriend for My Wife, a remake of the popular 2008 Argentine film Un Novio Para Mi Mujer. Steve Carell will make the film through his own Carousel Productions, which will be distributed by Warner Bros....

NBC UNVEILS COMEBACK PLANS NBC unveiled plans to air four new dramas and a new comedy show next season in hopes of pulling itself out of its fourth-place ranking in the ratings. It also said that it will revamp its Thursday night lineup – hoping to regain at least some of the dominance it held on that night for years. Among the new shows is a drama titled Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip from Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing,about the backstage life at a late-night comedy show like Saturday Night Live....

WOLVERINE RAKES IN $87 MILLION Despite last month’s online release of a pirated workprint, competition from the telecast of a Saturday-night NBA game between the Celtics and Bulls, and a slew of unwelcoming reviews, Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine made the cut as a box-office contender over the weekend as it took in an estimated $87 million. The figure was in line with most analysts’ predictions, although a few had forecast that it would rake in well over $100 million....

SHEEN IS TV’S HIGHEST-PAID ACTOR Two and a Half Menstar Charlie Sheen is the highest-paid actor on primetime television, according to a study by TV Guidereleased on Monday. Sheen is currently paid $825,000 per episode of Two and a Half Menbringing his annual earnings to about $20 million. Coming in second is William Petersen, the star of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, who reportedly earns $600,000 per episode. Mariska Hargitay was the top-paid actress in primetime, earning $400,000 per episode for her work on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit....
