The quest of American Idol finalist Sanjaya Malakar ended last night when it was announced that he received the fewest votes. Tuesday’s performance show featured the Top 7 singers performing country music after being mentored by superstar Martina McBride. Malakar, 17, from Federal Way, WA, sang “Something to Talk About”. Over 38 million votes, this season’s highest total, were received after the show. On Wednesday, McBride performed “Anyway” from her new album “Waking Up Laughing,” Fergie sang “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and it was revealed that Malakar will not be moving forward in the competition....
Sci Fi Channel has acquired the U.S. television rights to the two highly successful Stargate films Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum, which will mark their U.S. television premiere on the Channel. Both films are set to air in Spring 2009. Continuing the legacy and thrilling journey of the popular Stargate SG-1 television series, Stargate: The Ark of Truth picks up after Unending the SG-1 series finale. Coppola wrote, directed, and produced Youth Without Youth, adapting the screenplay from a novella by legendary Romanian author Mircea Eliade. Youth Without Youth marks Coppola’s long-awaited return to personal filmmaking – harkening back to earlier projects such as THE RAIN PEOPLE and THE CONVERSATION. It is his first film in a decade. Youth Without Youth stars Tim Roth as Dominic Matei, an elderly professor whose mysterious rejuvenation heightens his intelligence and whose apparent immortality makes him a target for the Nazis in this World War II-era parable....

Spider-Man 3 becomes the home entertainment event of the year when Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) releases the international blockbuster on DVD October 30, in time for the holiday gift-giving season. The CW has unveiled a new trailer for Stargirl. This is the latest DC Comics adaptation to join the network’s stacked lineup of superhero shows. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. To that point, Greg Berlanti, the producer behind the other ArrowVerse shows is also lending his talents here to bring Courtney Whitmore to the small screen in her own series. As we can see from the trailer, it appears this is going to be an action-packed affair....
