The CW’s hit show Supergirl is making television history with the casting of Nicole Maines as the first transgender superhero. Maines is best known for the HBO documentary The Trans List and her book, Becoming Nicole. In a recent interview, Maines revealed that she wants comic book fans and TV viewers to come away with a better understanding of the trans community with her new role on Supergirl. Ultimately, Maines hopes that her new role will lead to the “right representation” in the entertainment industry for the trans community....
The latest project to cut ties with Armie Hammer is the upcoming film Next Goal Wins. From director Taika Waititi, the film was set to star Hammer in a notable role as an executive at the Football Federation American Samoa. Though his scenes had already been filmed, Variety reports Will Arnett has officially replaced Hammer and that the film crew has already reshot Hammer’s scenes. With Taika Waititi at the helm, Next Goal Wins is based on the 2015 documentary of the same name....

The writers behind two of summer’s biggest box office sensations have picked up another project for the small screen. According to Variety, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Star Trek) have signed on to develop a remake of the 1968 classic series Hawaii Five-O. Orci and Kurtzman will develop the pilot with CSI: NY executive producer Peter Lenkov, with Peter writing the screenplay. All three will be executive producers and, if the pilot is picked up to series, Lenkov will take over as showrunner....
Sarah Brown is coming back to Port Charles. ABC announced today that actress Sarah Brown will be returning to the daytime soap opera General Hospital. The actress previously portrayed Carly Benson on the show from 1996 to 2001, and picked up three Daytime Emmy’s for her work. Brown’s first show back will air on Thursday, January 31. “I am pleased to welcome Sarah Brown back to ABC and ‘General Hospital’,” said Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group in making the announcement....
