Stranger Things will return with its penultimate season in May, and to help get fans even more excited, Netflix has just dropped a variety of photos from the new episodes. The fourth season will be comprised of nine episodes and will be divided in half, as Netflix will give fans the first set on May 27, followed by the rest of the season on July 1. As we can see in the new photos, the show brings back its key cast members, including Millie Bobby Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, and Brett Gelman....

MERGER TO CREATE CANADIAN MEDIA GIANT In a deal that would create Canada’s biggest private media conglomerate – second only to the publicly funded Canadian Broadcasting Corp. – Bell Globemedia has offered to buy CHUM Ltd. for a reported $1.4 billion. The new company would include more than two dozen TV stations, 33 radio stations, 38 cable networks, and a national newspaper, the Globe & Mail. Consumer groups and broadcast unions immediately assailed the deal, noting that it would have the effect of reducing the number of major broadcast players from three to two....

KIDS ARE NOT GOING WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE It may have been based on a slight children’s book, but most moviegoers who caught Warner Bros.’ Where the Wild Things Areover the weekend were single adults. Only 27 percent were parents with children, the studio said. The film earned an estimated $32.5 million – a solid debut for a film that reportedly cost about $80 million. But studio executives were closely studying results for weekend matinee performances which came in lower than usual for a PG-rated movie....

SHADES OF “MUST-SEE-TV” NIGHT! NBC was able to place a scripted show in the top ten last week, thanks to the two-hour finale of E.R. And while the episode drew the largest audience for any closer of a drama series since Murder She Wrotefaded 13 years ago, the number of viewers amounted to fewer than half what the series drew in its heyday, when it was routinely rated No. 1. LAST-DITCH STAND TO PREVENT MURDOCH’S WSJ TAKEOVER A key member of the family that owns controlling interest in Dow Jones, publisher of the Wall Street Journal, is making a last-ditch effort to prevent the company from falling into the hands of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, the Journalreported today (Monday). According to the newspaper, Christopher Bancroft has been in talks with hedge funds, private-equity firms and others in an effort to persuade them to acquire enough “super” voting shares from other Bancroft family members to prevent the sale from going through....

Superman, the cultural icon and quintessential superhero, is back in a big way. In a powerhouse year marked by the theatrical releases of several major superhero films including Warner Bros.’ Green Lantern, his arrival couldn’t be more perfectly timed. Warner Home Video (WHV) is celebrating the year of the superhero with the June 7 release of Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology (1978-2006) on Blu-ray. For the first time, fans will be able to own one super-entertaining Blu-ray collection with all four original theatrical Superman films starring CChristopher Reeve (available for the first time in high def), Superman Returns, and the two alternate versions of Superman and Superman II....

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Bryan Singer is lined up to direct The Mayor of Castro Street after he finishes his current film, Valkyrie: Rotten Tomatoes goes on to say that Chris McQuarrie will write the screenplay to The Mayor of Castro Street which Bryan Singer will be looking to direct. The film has been in the works for 15 years and originally had Oliver Stone and Robin Williams attached to the project....

The first episode of the Creepshow TV series has wrapped production. To celebrate the occasion, executive producer Greg Nicotero has shared the first image of the new series and it looks pretty great. The image is of the Creep from the original movie, but with a new twist, which horror fans will more than likely get a kick out of. The monster actually looks pretty close to the original 1982 version and hopefully proves that the new TV series won’t be straying too far from the tone of the first movie....

Roseanne Barr thinks that anti-Semitism “played a large part” in her firing by ABC last year. The comedian was quickly fired and the Roseanne revival series was canceled after she posted a tweet comparing former Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarret, who is African American, to Planet of the Apes. Barr doesn’t believe that she was given enough time to explain herself and says that the tweet was taken out of context....

When Rosie Huntington-Whiteley replaced fan favorite Megan Fox in the upcoming summer sequel Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the young actress stayed fairly quiet in the press. Spider-Man: No Way Home recently became the sixth highest-grossing movie ever, thanks to its emotional yet entertaining storyline and a terrific performance from lead star Tom Holland. The film also features the first live-action multiversal team-up between Spider-Men and sees Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprise their roles as the iconic web-swingers from Sony’s previous Spider-Man films. Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi directed 2002’s Spider-Man, starring Tobey Maguire as the titular superhero....

Comedy Central, a division of Viacom Media Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), announced today that the second annual The Comedy Awards will return to New York City. The multi-platform, annual event dedicated to honoring and celebrating the world of comedy, will be taped at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday, April 28, 2012 and will premiere on Comedy Cental on Sunday, May 6, 2012. Don Mischer Productions has signed on again to produce the show with Comedy Central and Casey Patterson, EVP, event production, Viacom Entertainment Group....

The first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced audiences to the idea of the cinematic multiverse, something which has now made the leap into live-action. To most, this is already more than epic enough in scope, but Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have revealed things are going to get even more ambitious in the upcoming sequel. In an interview with Collider, Phil Lord echoed much of what his writing and producing partner Chris Miller said of the highly anticipated return to the Spider-Verse, doubling down on their aspirations to push what’s possible with animation than ever before....

In that case, you’re already familiar with the feline in question: Queen Grudge, the Maine Coon who lives with Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala) aboard his unique spacecraft. However, we’ve now learned an essential detail about the standards Grudge holds for her food: she snubs pet food from the replicator and only eats the “finest fresh ingredients!” The writers revealed the detail in the first issue of the Star Trek: Discovery: Adventures in the 32nd Century comic published by IDW, which shined a spotlight on Queen Grudge—written by Mike Johnson, with art by Angel Hernandez, coloring by JD Mettler, and lettering by Neil Uyetake....
