LOTS OF ARRIVALS FOR THE DEPARTED Moviegoers mobbed the box office over the weekend to see Martin Scorsese’s latest gangland drama, The Departed, which made off with $26.9 million, according to final figures released by box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations Monday. The Warner Bros. film represented the best opening of Scorsese’s career, but several analysts observed that most of the director’s past films have been released on a so-called platform schedule – that is, a few theaters at a time – in order to build up word-of-mouth excitement....
NIELSEN WRITES SEASON FINALE Nielsen closed the books on the 2007-08 broadcast season Wednesday by releasing a list showing how each of the major networks’ regular programs fared. Summit Home Entertainment announced today the acquisition of the documentary feature Twilight in Forks: The Saga of the Real Town directed by Jason Brown, a three time Emmy Award winner. Produced by Brown, as well as York Baur and Peter Cowles and their company Heckelsville Media, the feature chronicles for Twilight fans the story behind Forks, Washington, which serves as the primary setting for the popular Twilight books and films. Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver will join Henry Cavill in Summit Entertainment and Intrepid Pictures’ action thriller The Cold Light of Day. Principal photography commenced on September 6th and will continue through November 13th. The Cold Light of Day, set and filmed entirely in Spain, will be shot over ten weeks in the Community of Valencia and Madrid as well as several weeks on the stages at Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante....
Paramount Home Media Distribution announced today that they will release The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection this fall, although a specific street date was not given.
