Paramount Pictures and Twitter jointly announced today sneak preview showings of the movie Super 8 for 1-day only on Thursday, June 9th, in advance of the film’s scheduled nationwide release on Friday, June 10th. To promote the sneak previews, the companies have designated the hashtag #Super8Secret, which Paramount has also sponsored as a Promoted Trend, allowing Twitter’s global user base a direct link to buy tickets to the advanced previews. At select, participating theatres in the United States, Super 8 Sneak Preview moviegoers will be treated to a free popcorn (with a concession purchase) at each sneak preview show....

Bruce Willis returns to familiar form as the grizzled, disenchanted cop in Jonathan Mostow’s suspense thriller “Surrogates”. Clocking in at a lean ninety minutes, Surrogates takes a different approach to the done-to-death avatar premise in science fiction. This time the avatar is a robot in the real world, operated by a human via gadget la-z-boy at home. The premise is summed up in literally five minutes by the opening montage. Brilliant scientist (James Cromwell) creates a robot, called a ‘surrogate’, for paraplegics to use in everyday life....

Ronan Vibert, veteran actor of both silver and small screen, has passed away. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vibert passed away at a Florida hospital after a brief illness, though details on the illness are unknown at this time. He was 58. Born in Cambridgeshire, England, 1964, Vibert grew up to attend the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. From there, his television career picked up after playing the role of Lee in the 1989 mini-series Traffik....

After being teased in the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder, Russell Crowe’s appearance as Zeus has been fully revealed in the new full-length trailer for the upcoming Marvel Studios blockbuster. Coming near the end of the trailer, Zeus is seen in all his glory, in a hilarious scene that sees him manage to reveal Thor in all his glory as well. The new trailer finally lifted the shroud on a number of other characters, primarily the villain Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, as well as new looks at Jane Foster/The Mighty Thor, Valkyrie, Korg and some quick shots of the Guardians of the Galaxy....

In an interview with the The Daily Telegraph, Sacha Baron Cohen revealed that he is retiring his Borat and Ali G characters. He claims that too many people know them and he reluctantly acknowledges that he can no longer retreat behind their personas. Cohen told the newspaper: “When I was being Ali G and Borat I was in character sometimes 14 hours a day and I came to love them, so admitting I am never going to play them again is quite a sad thing,” he said....

The sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live is coming under some fire amid accusations of plagiarism. On Saturday night, the show returned to NBC with the premiere of its 48th season. Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick) made his hosting debut in the episode while Kendrick Lamar served as the musical guest. Jon Hamm and Shaun White also made special appearances in the cold open segment to help kick off the new season....
