Stephen Amell has confirmed that Arrow will come to an end after Season 8. The CW show will return in the fall with an abbreviated season consisting of 10 episodes. It has been rumored for a few months that Amell was getting ready to leave, with many fans suggesting that his Oliver Queen character will not make it through the next Elseworlds crossover event later this year. That has yet to be confirmed, but CW president Mark Pedowitz recently revealed that at least one character will die in next year’s crossover....

Stone Village Pictures’ Scott Steindorff has acquired the rights to adapt Mikhail Bulgakov’s controversial novel The Master and Margarita. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steindorff will produce the film, which will be executive produced by Chris Law, Danny Greenspun, Robin Greenspun, Scott Lastati, Dylan Russell and Michael Lang. The Master and Margarita is a story that begins in pre-WWII Moscow, where the devil appears as a mysterious man who insinuates himself into a literary crowd....

BOX OFFICE WINNER: TOO CLOSE TO CALL Going into the weekend, most analysts presumed that Disney/Pixar’s Upwould hang over the top of the box office for the second consecutive week. “Hang over” was indeed the operative term (minus the space) as Warner Bros.’ The Hangover sold far more tickets than anyone had expected and waged a balloon race of sorts with the animated movie that was so close that the actual outcome won’t be known until final sales figures are released later today (Monday)....

IS THE BOX-OFFICE HOT STREAK OVER? Box office analysts are starting to ask whether the movie business has run out of steam after the four-day Memorial Day holiday performed no better than a year ago – despite numerous high-budget films highlighting theater marquees. The top film, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonianwon the weekend battle with a take of $70.1 million, beating Terminator Salvation,which delivered $51.9 million. Their total take, however, was slightly below whatIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull earned during the same weekend a year ago....

Sundance Institute announced today the lineup of films selected to screen in the U.S. and World Cinema Dramatic and Documentary Competitions for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. In addition to the four Competition Categories, the Festival presents films in six out-of-competition sections to be announced on December 2. The 2011 Sundance Film Festival runs January 20-30 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. On Day One, the Festival will forego the convention of one opening night film and instead screen one narrative film and one documentary from both the U....

The upcoming Supergirl season 5 finale will not air as planned. This, according to Jon Cryer, who is making his return as Lex Luther in the Arrowverse once again on The CW series. Anyone believing that the end of The Walking Dead’s flagship show is about to start the zombie franchise shambling into wind-down mode need not worry - or perhaps rejoice in some cases - as AMC have announced that a new spin-off series is coming in the form of Tales of the Walking Dead next year. Unlike other shows such as Fear The Walking Dead and Walking Dead: World Beyond, this newest addition to the zombie family, which was originally announced last year, will act like an anthology of one-shot comics, with each episode being a stand-alone story about both long-standing characters as well as new faces to the series....

Oscar nominee Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow) and Corey Stoll (Salt) will join the regular cast of NBC’s new drama Law & Order: Los Angeles (Wednesdays, 10-11 p.m. ET), which premieres September 29.
