While The Conjuring certainly takes certain creative liberties, the basis of the film is a true story. Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, and Twisted Pictures today announced plans to develop and produce Saw III, the next film in the psychologically intense and disturbing horror franchise, for an October 27, 2006 wide release. The film will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), with story by Leigh Whannell and James Wan (Saw, Saw II) and screenplay by Whannell. The Twisted Pictures team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules will return as producers with Whannell and Wan set to executive produce....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sex and the City 2 grossed an estimated $3 million from midnight showings across the country. The film played at over 2,000 screens last night and it was said that the midnight box office performance was 20% higher than Sex and the City: The Movie’s midnight take two years ago....

When it comes to post-credits scenes, Marvel may not have created the now widely used device, but they have certainly cornered the market for it. So far, the only MCU project to no include a post credits scene at all was Avengers: Endgame, and to date, over 45 individual scenes have been created and used in mid and end credits positions. Sony Pictures has reportedly canceled the planned reboot of The Boondocks. Star of The Boondocks, Cedric Yarbrough, confirmed that the reboot is no longer happening. The Boondocks is an animated comedy series created by Aaron McGruder. The series premiered on Adult Swim in 2005 and ended in 2014. It follows The Freemans, a dysfunctional black family who move to the friendly and mostly white neighborhood of Woodcrest. In 2019, Sony had announced plans to reboot the series, however, it appears that these plans have been shelved....

After J.J. Abrams officially signed on to direct Star Trek 2, we haven’t heard much about the sci-fi sequel. Today we have news that production on Star Trek 2 has been slated to begin on January 15, 2012. A new report goes on to reveals that J.J. Abrams is currently scouting locations in Hawaii, for what would be a “jungle planet.” Shooting will also take place at an unnamed Los Angeles landmark, which will double for a, “famous Star Trek location”....

With the continuation of Star Wars Celebration, even more announcements and teases about the future of the franchise have been trickling out. One piece of information to be revealed by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is that a series starring Donald Glover as Lando is still one that is being discussed as a future project. While Kennedy has made it clear that there will be a new emphasis put on the movie arm of the franchise in the coming years, that does not mean they are abandoning the solid TV work Lucasfilm have been producing recently....

Starz announced today a Season 2 pick up of Power, the New York-based drama starring Omari Hardwick. Creator, showrunner and executive producer Courtney Kemp Agboh and fellow executive producers Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, David Knoller and Randall Emmett will return for the sophomore season. Production is set to begin on the 10-episode second season in and around New York, as well as at its home base at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn this September....

That’s a wrap for Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, as the actor has announced he is finished filming on the final season of Arrow. As previously reported, the show’s current eighth season will be its last, and Amell has taken to Twitter to reveal his thoughts on wrapping up his work on the popular superhero series. “Words can’t even begin to express what Arrow has meant to me. Best 8 years of my life,” Amells says in the tweet, which brought about a flurry of emotional fan responses....

Steven Spielberg’s next project, The Fabelmans, is the closest thing to a coming-of-age story that audiences will get from the celebrated filmmaker. Spielberg, who helmed movies such as Jaws, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, and Jurassic Park, will give fans a look at a fictionalized version of his childhood in The Fabelmans. Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood) and Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine) play Mitzi and Burt Fabelman, who also serve as a version of the director’s own late parents....
